I’ve definitely been astounded as to how fast this year has rushed at us all. 2017 gave new meaning to the phrase “time flies”. As we approach Christmas, I decided to pause and ponder again on what exactly is right about the holiday itself.

  • No, it’s not the time spent with loved ones. Nice as that is, one can get that at different points in the same year. Heck, even during Thanksgiving.
  • No, it’s not the gift-giving and receiving either. Again, nice as that is, there are a ton of opportunities within a given year to exchange gifts. Off the top of my head I can think of birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s day, and those other made-up days that help Hallmark sell cards.
  • Umm, it’s not the food. Though, my goodness, YUUM!

So, what is it about Christmas that sets it apart? Well, it’s a yearly reminder of a Divine kiss to humankind. Let me break it down this way. God created each of us to be in relationship with Him. We did everything to mess that up, so He showed up again on the scene with a whopper of a plan B to restore things. He pulled that off massively well, and till date, whoever accepts His plan has an entirely different experience of life here on earth, not to mention in the hereafter. The joy and peace that a relationship with the Son of God provides is unmatched. No amount of time away, meditation, or ____ (insert whatever) can substitute for His real and enduring peace. The kind that you wake up with, that anchors you throughout your day (no matter how crazy your day is!), and that rests with you as you retire at night.

Gosh, what a true gift. The kind worth sharing.

And that’s what Christmas is all about.

Hope your reading this has been helpful for you. I’ve basically just shared the one gift that matters way above any gift you’ve received since your birth. Knowledge is everything.

Merry Christmas to you, my friends. And to all…a good night. 🙂
